Maltratar al presente y venerar al pasado - Abuse the present and revere the past

Those also are even now condemned under the name of Jews, and made subject to future punishment, who, while usurping to themselves the teaching of divine knowledge, both hinder others, and do not themselves acknowledge that which they profess.
(Saint Ambrose of Milan. Catena Aurea Lc 11, 45-54)

Reflection: How many times do we behave like the Jews of the time of Christ? We do this when we are attentive to filter the mosquito for others, hiding that for ourselves, we let the camel pass. We point out the apparent rather than the substantial. We care about appearances and not the depth of the soul. We care more to appear as defenders of the good seen. That is the hypocrisy that Christ clearly points out.
