Ver a Cristo en quien sufre - See Christ in who suffers

Por esto, el Señor dice a los que en el día del juicio estarán a su izquierda, condenados al infierno: “Porque tuve hambre, y no me disteis de comer; tuve sed, y no me disteis de beber; fui forastero, y no me alojasteis; estaba desnudo y no me vestisteis; enfermo y en la cárcel, y no me visitasteis.” (Mt 25,42-43) Porque su alimento, su bebida, su vestido, su techo, su descanso están en nuestro corazón. De ahí que está llamando sin cesar, queriendo entrar. Acojámosle, pues, e introduzcámosle dentro de nosotros, ya que Él es también nuestro alimento, nuestra bebida, nuestra vida eterna.Y toda persona que no lo acoge ahora en su interior, para que ahí descanse, o mejor dicho, para que ella descanse en él, no heredará el Reino de los cielos con los santos; no podrá entrar en la ciudad celestial. Pero tú, Señor Jesucristo, danos poder entrar para gloria de tu Nombre, junto con el Padre y el Espíritu Santo... (San Macario de Egipto. Homilías espirituales 30,9)

Reflexión: ¿Hay algo más maravilloso que ver a Cristo en todos los que sufren? No se trata de filantropía o solidaridad humana. Ambas son loables, pero se pueden utilizar para ganar prestigio ante los demás. Es Dios mismo presente como Caridad. Nuestra mano izquierda no debe saber lo que hace la mano derecha. Para ello es necesario ver a Cristo y darle su espacio de nuestro ser, en nuestro corazón. No es sencillo, necesitamos de la Gracia para poder dar un sentido trascendente a todo lo que hacemos. Por ello debemos orar y rogar, tal como nos indica San Macario.

Reflection: Is there anything more beautiful than seeing Christ in all who suffer? It is not about philanthropy or human solidarity.  Both are commendable but can be used to gain prestige before others. It is God himself who is presents as Charity. Our left hand should not know what the right hand does. For this, it is necessary to see Christ and give him his space of our being, in our heart. It is not simple; we need God's Grace to be able to provide a transcendent meaning to everything we do. That is why we must pray and pray, as San Macario indicates.
