Habiendo curado el cuerpo, preguntó de esta manera: "¿Es lícito salvar las almas o perderlas?" Acaso porque hacía los milagros para establecer la fe, en la que se encuentra la salvación del alma, o porque la curación de la mano derecha significa la salvación del alma, la cual, no haciendo buenas obras, tenía, en cierto modo, seca su derecha; o también, por alma, entiende al hombre, así como se acostumbra a decir: "Hubo allí tantas almas".

La salud del cuerpo no es una condición para la salvación del alma. Pero no cabe duda que recuperar la saludo corporal es un símbolo con poder para que el alma se dé cuenta de la importancia de la Gracia de Dios. Cristo curaba el cuerpo buscando conmover el alma de tantos necesitados del encuentro con Dios. Hoy en día despreciamos los milagros, no nos interesan. Creemos que los milagros son "prestidigitación" que esconde un engaño. Esta desconfianza evidencia que hemos perdido la comunicación con Dios. Los símbolos ya no nos hablan de la Verdad, porque no creemos en que exista nada verdadero. ¿Para que queremos fuente de Agua Viva si desconfiamos y preferimos morir de sed?

But though our Lord was healing the body, He asked this question, “is it lawful to save the soul or to lose it?” either because He performed His miracles on account of faith in which is the salvation of the soul; or, because the cure of the right hand signified the salvation of the soul, which ceasing to do good works, seemed in some measure to have a withered right hand, i.e. He placed the soul for the man, as men are wont to say, “So many souls were there.”

The health of the body is not a condition for the salvation of the soul. But no doubt recovering the bodily greeting is a symbol with power for the soul to realize the importance of the Grace of God. Christ healed the body seeking to move the soul of so many in need of the encounter with God. Today we despise miracles, and we are not interested. We believe that miracles are "sleight of hand" that conceals a hoax. This distrust shows that we have lost communication with God. The symbols no longer speak to us of the Truth, because we do not believe that there is anything true. Why do we want a source of Living Water if we distrust and prefer to die of thirst?
