La vanagloria siempre es mala; de ella nace la iniquidad, la desesperación y la avaricia, que es la madre de todos los males. Si deseas preservarte de todo esto, dirige tu mirada al Señor, y conténtate con la gloria que está junto a El; pues si en cualquier facultad conviene elegir árbitros a los más doctos, ¿cómo confías la prueba de la virtud a cualquiera, y no a aquel que la conoce más que todos, y que puede darla y coronarla? Reflexión: ¿Qué podemos esperar cuando nos vanagloriamos de nosotros mismos? Seremos semejantes al fariseo que despreciaba al Publicano porque no era tan espléndido como él. Sin duda, la herramienta que se vanagloria de su poder, no será tomada por el Artista para su Obra. Mientras que la herramienta dócil y humilde, siempre es la preferida.

Reflection: What can we expect when we boast about ourselves? We will be similar to the Pharisee who despised the Publican because he was not as splendid as he was. Without a doubt, the tool that boasts of its power will not be taken by the Artist for his Work. While the tool tame and humble, it is always the favorite.
