Somos débiles, pero la Gracia nos hace valientes - We are weak, but Grace makes us brave.

------------------------------------------------

Saint Paul said: “The weakness of God is stronger than all men” (1Cor 1:25). It is clear from this too that the gospel is divine. For whence did it strike twelve unlettered men to attempt such great enterprises, men who were living in marshes, or rivers, in desert places, who had never perhaps gone into a city or the public square ? Whence did it strike them to array themselves against the whole world ? That they were cowardly and unmanly, he who has written about them shows, inasmuch as he does not even deprecate nor try to gloss over their failings. This in itself is a powerful proof of the truth. What then does this man say about them? That after the innumerable miracles they had seen Christ work, when he was taken prisoner some fled, while the one who remained, although he was head over the rest, denied him.
(Saint John Chrysostom. Homily on the 1st letter to the Corinthians 4, 3)
Reflection: The human being is weak, limited, and inconstant. We can hardly dedicate our life to something that goes beyond the human. How could the Apostles be witnesses of Christ until his death? In part, it is a mystery. In part, we know that everything changed when the Holy Spirit filled them. This makes it clear that we can do nothing without Christ and without the strength of Grace. This is essential to continue walking day after day in the footsteps of Christ.

Debemos juzgar al mundo y no a nuestros hermanos - We must judge the world and not our brothers

---------------------------------

But lest any of the people should allege their ignorance of the prophetical books as a reason why they could not discern the courses of the times, He carefully adds, And why even of yourselves judge you not what is right, showing them that although unlearned they might still by their natural ability discern Him, who did works such as none other man did, to be above man, and to be God, and that therefore after the injustice of this world, the just judgment of the creation would come.
(Bede the Venerable. Catena Aurea Lc 12, 54.-57)

Reflection: Christ teaches us that God has given us the ability to judge what happens and learn from it. When we do not want to judge the obvious, we are hypocrites. Hypocrites because we know what happens, and we prefer to do as if nothing happened. However, God will judge us so much for daring to judge what we cannot do: our brothers, and for not judging the world, which continually rushes into the abyss.

Fuego sobre la tierra - Fire over the earth

------------------------------

Now in a mystical sense the one house is one man, but by two we often mean the soul and the body. But if two things meet together, each one has its part; there is one which obeys, another which rules. But there are three conditions of the soul, one concerned with reason, another with desire, the third with anger. Two then are divided against three, and three against two. For by the coming of Christ, man who was material became rational. We were carnal and earthly, God sent His Spirit into our hearts, and we became spiritual children.
(Saint Ambrose of Milan.  Catena Aurea Lc 12, 49-53)
Reflection: The fire of God is the fire of the Holy Spirit. The fire that God sends us to transform our nature and endow us with wisdom. This fire enters our heart and makes it shine to guide other people to God. We need to reread the coming of the Holy Spirit to realize that nothing is the same again.

Fidelidad y prudencia - Faithfulness and wisdom

No antes.
-----------------------------

For I ask, where will be found the steward that possesses in himself faithfulness and wisdom? for as in the management of goods, whether a man be careless yet faithful to his master, or else wise yet unfaithful, the things of the master perish; so also in the things of God there is need of faithfulness and wisdom.
(Theophylact. Catena Aurea . Lc 12, 41-46)
Reflection: We should be faithful and prudent administrators. God has given us gifts, abilities, opportunities, virtues, and above all, he has given us faith. What do we do with all this? Do we work to multiply it in others? Nowadays, it is not easy to work for God because the world closes our doors. But we should not lose hope. God will open the doors in his moment. At the right moment. Not before.

No sabemos la hora - We don't know the time

(San Cirilo,  in Cat. graec. Patr)
Amistad o complicidad.
-----------------------------

Our Lord knew the proneness of human infirmity to sin, but because He is merciful, He does not allow us to despair, but instead has compassion, and gives us repentance as a saving remedy. And therefore He adds, And if he shall come in the second watch, &c. For those who keep watch on the walls of cities, or observe the attacks of the enemy, divide the night into three or four watches.
(Saint Cyril,  in Cat. graec. Patr)
Reflection: How would God find us if he called us right now? What do we carry with us? Peace with us or discord. Humility or pride. Patience or haste. Hope or despair. Friendship or complicity.

Dios nos llamará ¿Estamos preparados? - God will call us. Are we ready?

---------------------------

As Saint Ephrem has said, it is necessary to consider that our soul resembles a ship about to travel, but does not know when the wind will come, and also resembles an army, which does not know when the trumpet will sound announcing the fight If you say this about a ship or an army waiting for a specific moment that may never come, how much more convenient is it for us to prepare for the sudden arrival of this day, when the bridge will be thrown, and the world door will open new?
( Saint Isaac the Sirius. Ascetic speeches, 1st series, No. 38)

Reflection: We do not know when God will call us to leave this world. We do not know at what point in our life it will happen. That is why it is necessary to be prepared to present ourselves before God. What can we do while doing so much? Live with Faith, Hope, and Charity. Live with docility the Will of God and not believe ourselves superior to others.

(San Juan Crisóstomo, in Mat. hom. 34)
----------------------------------------

For their comfort amid every danger was the power of Him who sent them. And therefore said He, Behold, I send you; as if he said, This will suffice for your consolation, this will be enough to make you hope, instead of fearing the coming evils which He signifies, adding, as lambs among wolves.
(Saint John Chrysostom, in Mat. hom. 34)
Reflection: Many times, we feel like lambs in the middle of wolves. Today's society stalks and attacks us frequently. Even within the Church, we find wolves that seek to drive us out and destroy the unity that God so desires. But Christ sends us to be leaven. Yeast that dies so that the dough of wheat becomes dough of bread. When the dough is baked, the yeast will have finished the mission entrusted and may rest in the Lord.
