San Juan señala a Cristo - Saint John points to Christ

No hay razón para excluir, después de Juan, a otros profetas, pues leemos en los Hechos de los Apóstoles ( Hch 11), que Agabo y cuatro vírgenes, hijas de Filipo, profetizaron ( Hch 21,8-11). Pero todo lo que profetizaron la Ley y los Profetas, cuyos escritos leemos, ha sido cumplido por Cristo. Luego cuando se dice: profetizaron hasta Juan, se designa el tiempo de Cristo, porque el que aquellos anunciaron que había de venir, Juan le anuncia como que ha venido. (San Jerónimo. Reflexión: San Juan Bautista señala a Cristo de forma clara. Nos llama a hacer penitencia. Penitencia que conlleva sacrificio y humildad. San Juan llamaba desde la soledad del desierto porque para él era importante no hacer sombra al Quien habría de nacer. De la misma forma, nosotros debemos evangelizar desde la sencillez y la austeridad del lugar donde Dios ha colocado.

There is no reason to exclude, after John, other prophets, for we read in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 11), that Agabus and four virgins, daughters of Philip, prophesied (Acts 21,8-11). Reflection: Saint John the Baptist points to Christ clearly. Calls us to do penance. The penance that entails sacrifice and humility. San Juan called from the solitude of the desert because, for him, it was important not to shade the One who was to be born. In the same way, we must evangelize from the simplicity and austerity of the place where God has placed.
