Señor, extiende tu mano. La necesitamos - Lord, extend your hand. We need it.

¿Acaso Dios podría pedir alguna cosa al hombre si éste no fuera capaz de responder a la petición de Dios y poderle ofrecer lo que le debe? Porque el don de Dios existe, pero también debe existir la contribución del hombre. Por ejemplo, estaba en poder del hombre que una moneda de oro produjera otras diez o que produjera otras cinco; pero pertenece a Dios el que el hombre posea esta moneda de oro con la cual ha podido ganar otras diez. Cuando el hombre  ha presentado a Dios las otras diez monedas de oro ganadas por él, ése ha recibido un nuevo don, esta vez no de plata, sino el poder y la realeza sobre diez ciudades.

Reflexión: Si leemos Ap 3, 20, nos daremos cuenta de que Cristo llama a nuestra puerta con paciencia y confianza. Nos ofrece su mano para encontrar el sentido de todo y todos. Pero no fuerza la puerta. Espera que nosotros tengamos la firme voluntad de dejarle entrar para que habite con nosotros. Incluso, si nuestras fuerzas son pocas para abrir la puerta, nos ofrece la Gracia que hace posible lo que para el ser humano es imposible. Pero, muchas veces nos frena el miedo. El miedo a ser diferente, a cambiar nuestra vida, a dejar atrás todo lo que nos parecen riquezas. Entonces miramos atrás, como la mujer de Lot y quedamos convertidos en estatuas de sal. Estatuas sin vida e incapaces de dar vida.

Would God ask something from us if we weren't capable of responding to God's demand and giving him what he owed? For there is God's gift but also our contribution. For example, it was well within that man's power that one gold coin should make ten or five more; but that the man should possess that gold coin with which to produce ten more in the first place belonged to God. Once he had given God the ten gold coins he had made, the man received a new sort of gift: not money this time, but the power and sovereignty over ten cities.

Reflection: If we read Rev 3, 20, we will realize that Christ knocks on our door with patience and trust. He offers us his hand to find the meaning of everything and everyone. But do not force the door. He expects us to have the firm will to let him in to live with us. Even if our forces are few to open the door, it offers us the Grace that makes possible what is impossible for the human being. But, many times, the fear stops us. The fear of being different, of changing our lives, of leaving behind everything that seems like riches to us. Then we look back, like Lot's wife, and become salt statues. Statues without life and unable to give life.
