Así como en la vida humana el camino que se aparta de la rectitud es muy ancho, así el que sale del que conduce al Reino de los Cielos se encuentra en una gran extensión de errores. El camino recto es estrecho y tiene pendientes peligrosas, tanto a la izquierda como a la derecha; como sucede en un puente, desde el cual se cae al agua inclinándose a un lado o a otro.

Reflexión: Cristo nos dijo que debíamos de seguirle, tomar nuestra cruz y negarnos a nosotros mismos. Esta camino no es fácil. Negarnos conlleva dejar a un lado todo lo que nos aparta del camino y centrarnos en seguir las pisadas del seguir. Tomar la cruz es aceptar todo lo que nos hace y hará sufrir. Entender el sufrimiento como una herramienta de santificación. Como dice San Basilio, es muy fácil caer del camino, por lo que debemos orar al Señor para que su Gracia haga posible, lo que es imposible para nosotros.

For as in earthly life the departure from right is exceeding broad, so he who goes out of the path which leads to the Kingdom of Heaven, finds himself in a vast extent of error. But the right way is narrow, the slightest turning aside being full of danger, whether to the right or to the left, as on a bridge, where he who slips on either side is thrown into the river.

Reflection: Christ told us that we should follow him, take our cross, and deny ourselves. This road is not easy. Denying us means leaving aside everything that separates us from the path and focusing on following in the footsteps of following. Taking the cross is accepting everything that makes us and will suffer. Understand suffering as a tool of sanctification. As St. Basil says, it is easy to fall out of the way, so we must pray to the Lord for His Grace to make possible, which is impossible for us.
