Le querían matar, pero no era el momento - They wanted to kill him, but it wasn't the time

En sentido místico se comprende que estas palabras las dijo refiriéndose a su cuerpo, que es la Iglesia. Porque son expulsados los demonios cuando, abandonadas las supersticiones, los gentiles creen en El. Y se verifican las curaciones cuando según sus mandatos se renuncie al diablo y a las vanidades del mundo y llegue la Iglesia al fin de la resurrección (que se verificará como en el tercer día) a la perfección angélica por la inmortalidad del cuerpo

Reflexión: Los fariseos querían matar a Cristo, pero su hora no había llegado. Por eso San Agustín nos habla del sentido místico del Evangelio de hoy. La Voluntad de Dios es un misterio que se muestra y debe ser entendido. La Jerusalén terrenal es la parte humana que existe en todo grupo humano, incluso dentro de las estructuras eclesiales. Cuando nos convirtamos y la santidad nos inunde, entonces veremos la obra de Dios en todo su esplendo. Mientras tanto, sólo podemos ver as apariencias que ocultan el interior de todo.

These things are understood to have been spoken mystically by Him, so as to refer to His body, which is the Church. For devils are cast out when the Gentiles having forsaken their superstition, believe in Him. And cures are perfected when according to His commands, after having renounced the devil and this world until the end of the resurrection, (by which as it were the third day will be completed,) the Church shall be perfected in angelical fullness by the immortality also of the body.

Reflection: The Pharisees wanted to kill Christ, but their time had not come. That is why St. Augustine tells us about the mystical sense of today's Gospel. The Will of God is a mystery that is shown and must be understood. Earthly Jerusalem is the human part that exists in every social group, even within ecclesial structures. When we convert, and holiness floods us, then we will see the work of God in all its splendor. Meanwhile, we can only see the appearances that hide the interior of everything.
