Limpiar el corazón y dar testimonio de ello - Clean the heart and bear witness to it

--------------------------------

For every day before dinner the Pharisees washed themselves with water, as if a daily washing could be a cleansing of the heart. But the Pharisee thought within himself, yet did not give utterance to a word; nevertheless, He heard who perceived the secrets of the heart. Hence it follows, And the Lord said to him, Now do you Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.
(Saint Augustine. De verb. Dom., serm. 30.)
Reflection: Is it wrong to wash your hands every day? It is undoubtedly a great habit, but styling does not imply cleaning the heart. Hypocrites act before others to make them believe that they are perfect leaders to admire and follow. The reality is that nobody deserves admiration more than God. We cannot reject true testimonies, because they make God present among us. But we must be careful with a large number of drills sold as truths.
