La levadura muere para dar vida al pan - Yeast dies to give life to bread

El Señor propone la parábola de la levadura."Lo mismo que la levadura comunica su fuerza invisible a toda la masa, también la fuerza del Evangelio transformará el mundo entero gracias al ministerio de mis apóstoles... No me digas: “¿Qué podemos hacer, nosotros doce miserables pecadores, frente al mundo entero?” Precisamente ésta es la enorme diferencia entre causa y efecto, la victoria de un puñado de hombres frente a la multitud, que demostrará el esplendor de vuestro poder. ¿No es enterrando la levadura en la masa, 'escondiéndola', lo que según el Evangelio, transforma toda la masa? Así, también vosotros, apóstoles míos, mezclándoos con la masa de los pueblos, es como la penetraréis de vuestro espíritu y como triunfaréis sobre vuestros adversarios.

Reflexión: La levadura muere para dar vida a la masa de trigo. Cuando la masa de trigo fermenta, se convierte en masa de pan. Masa lista para ser horneada en el calor de las pruebas del mundo. Cuando se saca el pan, todo es diferente. Nada es igual que antes. ¿Dónde está la levadura? Ha desaparecido. Esto es lo que Cristo nos pide para vivir en el Reino de los Cielos.

Our Lord next puts forward the parable of the yeast. “Just as yeast communicates its invisible force to the whole lump of dough, so will the force of the Gospel transform the whole world by means of the apostles' ministry... Don't ask me: 'What can we twelve, miserable sinners do in face of the whole world?' This is precisely the vast difference between cause and effect, between a handful of men before a crowd, which will demonstrate the stunning effect of your strength. Isn't it by mixing the yeast into the dough, by 'hiding' it as the Gospel says, that it transforms the whole lump? In the same way, apostles of mine, it is by being mixed into the great mass of peoples that you will impregnate them with your spirit and win victory over your adversaries

Reflection: Yeast dies to give life to a wheat dough. When the wheat mass ferments, it becomes bread dough. Dough ready to be baked in the heat of the world's tests. When the bread is taken out, everything is different. Nothing is the same as before. Where is the yeast? It has disappeared. This is what Christ asks us to live in the Kingdom of Heaven.
